Vera @ VatiaTech
Vera is a Specialist in Robotic Surgery and holds a PhD in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. She started VatiaTech to present the AI field in a clear, intuitive and visual manner, addressed to students, engineers, scientists, developers or anyone interested in learning and understanding the emerging industry of Artificial Intelligence.
Vera already had an idea on how the logo would look and feel like. She wanted to use AI tech elements, like a digital quill, network lines & dots, in purple and blue variations and with Lena or similar fonts. The brand name was styled vatIAtech, as a combination of 3 elements: Vatia + IA + Tech
- Vatia, meaning Deep in Greek, a reference to Deep Learning
- IA, are the initials of Intelligence Artificielle, French for Artificial Intelligence, the blog’s language
- Tech, the known short name for technology
After researching AI, deep learning and future technology branding, with combination of Vera’s references, I ended up 6 drafts, that blended the desired colours and font pairs.
Vera was very excited about draft 02, in which I added the detail of a women’s face-line within the quill, effectively symbolising a female author. Further instructions were to add tech elements, like network lines and dots, as in draft 00, the colour pairs of navy blue and purple shade and font pair Raleway & Lena (Raleway letters ‘te’ in ‘tech’ where modified). The results were the below refined samples.
From here on the selection was easy; a combination of the first with the last samples, with minor changes in quill direction, author’s name, colours and underline, lead to the final logo and related icon.
Hasan @ The Coaching Hub
Hasan Haj is a Trainer, Educational Leadership Coach and co-founder of the Coaching Hub. As he was getting more attention in the education industry, it was highly important to create a corresponding logo that would represent him and his dynamic personal approach.
So, Hasan was contemplating on an idea of creating a brand that would inspire and guide young students and adults towards a meaningful career path. With a background in mental training, his approach was to focus on enhancing the learner’s mental capacities and clarity. So, he came up with the name of HD Your Mind and assigned me to design the logo.
After researching the mental training, professional development and leadership coaching space, I started designing drafts focusing mainly on a head figure that would look “out-of-the-box”, accompanied by the name, with strong serif fonts.
When the drafts were reviewed by Hasan, he wanted a more masculine figure, with royal blue and gold colours. In the last sample, I had some fun playing with a picture of Hasan, that I thought would suit the logo and give it a unique signature.
My hunch was right. Hasan absolutely loved the last sample, and we further tweaked the lines of the background stroke to look sharp and direct, corresponding to Hasan’s teaching style and personality.
